Experiences with Active Learning, Active Teaching, and Creativity

We have all heard some of the good, the bad, and the ugly of active learning. Many questions arise from those who have tried active learning strategies or would like to try to implement active learning. Is it difficult? Do I have to completely redesign my course? Does it really work? Can’t I just lecture? The focus of this Abell Conversation will be to share practical experiences from an Assistant Professor of Bioengineering. In collaboration with Dr. Suzanne Burgoyne and others, Dr. Pfeiffer has implemented aspects of Theatre and the arts to engage engineering students in ways not often experienced. Please join us and prepare for some hands on, minds on, active learning activities as well as hearing a little of what has and has not worked well.
